White Water Rafting

WHITEWATER RAFTING $ 120

Departures:07:30-14:30 Hours | Age Restriction: 15 years and below | Duration:6 hrs | Weight: n/a

White Water Rafting – Half and full day trips are offered for an exhilarating day’s adventure, beginning with a descent into the 100 metre Batoka gorge. The trip begins with a briefing and assistance with your life jackets, safety helmets and other equipment.

Techniques are also demonstrated. The white water section of the Zambezi River below the Victoria Falls extends for 24 Km, winding between the steep sided cliffs soaring up to 200 metres high – a beautiful and savage gorge which took some 300 million years to develop.

The River consists of a series of turbulent rapids, some classified as grade 5 which is just under the impossible, and calm, placid stretches in between to catch your breath. Lunch stop is usually in a shady spot with a small beach. Water levels vary throughout the year and affect the type of trip that can be run. Generally speaking, high water runs for approximately 15Km (high water) are from March to June and low water runs are from July to January for approximately 24Km.

The rafts are 16ft inflatables that accommodate a maximum of 8 per raft and are guided by your expert oarsman who is familiar with the ferocity and fickleness of the River. Your rafting trip ends mid afternoon with a steep walk out of the Gorge (Please note: this is a very steep indeed, at an almost vertical ascent).

Walk in and out of the Gorge

The walk in and out of the gorge is steep and rocky. The walk out is approximately 750 feet to the top of the gorge and requires a reasonable degree of fitness. There is cold beer, soft drink and water top of the gorge for guests.
